NO LIFEGUARDS WILL BE ON DUTY UNTIL MAY 26, 2012 - SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Lake Michigan will be tested for bacteria levels by the Michigan City Parks and Recreation Department everyday at Washington Park Beach and Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Stop 2 and Stop 7 from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. Results are available the day following the testing by 11:00 a.m. here or at the number below.

Washington Park Daily Hours & Fees
Daily parking fees will be charged on weekends only beginning May 19, 2012. Parking fees will be charged daily beginning Monday, May 28, 2012 through Monday, September 3, 2012. Parking fees will charged on weekends only after Labor Day. Parking hours are subject to change.
Washington Park is open daily from 5 am to 10 pm, year round.
Parking fees apply from 8 am to 9 pm and from 6 am to 10 pm during special events.
Car and motorcycle parking $6 per day
Trailer, bus or motorhome $12 per day.

The beach is tested in the following locations:

We must issue an advisory for counts between 236 and 999 for any of the locations and issue a closure for counts 1,000 and above. Acceptable levels of bacteria are 235 or below.
